How to wire the EcoNet Thermostat

Be sure to turn power off before attempting to wire an EcoNet thermostat!

Wiring the EcoNet thermostat is pretty straight forward. It only requires 4 wires to the EcoNet subbase. The 4 wires are:

R 24 VAC power

C Common

E1 - EcoNet Communication Bus

E2 - EcoNet Communication Bus

You must select a color for each terminal and continue on to other communicating devices using the same color for each terminal. For instance R is generally Red and should be run to all device R terminals, C is generally Brown and it should continue to all C terminals on the bus and so on.

The 600 series Control Center subbase has 4 terminals and require a thermostat screwdriver.

The 700 series Smart Thermostat subbase has 6 terminals and has small thumb releases. Simply push the wire into the slot and make sure it is secure. To remove the wire, press the thumb release.

Additionally, the 700 Series Smart Thermostat can have a remote sensor installed. The thermostat can be configured to use the internal sensor, the remote sensor, or an average of the two. External sensors are available through your distributor or the replacement parts division.

The approved remote sensor is the Aprilaire 8051 Flush Mount Temperature Sensor available through RPD.

There is also a ferrite ring included with the 700 series Smart Thermostat. The hole where the wires come out will most likely need to be enlarged to allow this ferrite ring to be installed. The wire bundle from the indoor unit, at the wall should pass through the ferrite ring.
