A014_F: Flame Present With Gas Valve Off
Status
This is an extremely critical fault and should rarely (if ever) be seen in the field.
Description
The fault indicates a flame was present when it should not be. Flame is seen to be present when the gas valve is supposed to be off.
Expected Operation
When unexpected flame is sensed, the Blower and Inducer are sent to their highest speed. Both will remain on until the fault as cleared. Any response to a thermostat demand is ignored while this fault is present. Note that the gas valve circuit should not have been energized when this fault occurred. When the fault does clear, the inducer enters into a 20 post purge and the blower enters it's 90 second blower off delay. Upon shut down, a "10" and "14" will alternate on the IFC seven segment display and the furnace will go into a one-hour lockout. Operation will attempt again as normal operation after one hour.
Causes
1. Field Mis-wiring of 24V to gas valve.
2. Faulty gas valve that is stuck or sticking.
3. Faulty furnace control that is sensing flame when no flame is present.
Solution
1. Wire Properly.
2. Replace gas valve.
3. Replace furnace control (IFC)
