A002_C: Outside Unit Communication Failure
Status
This is a critical alarm. Nothing will run until this is resolved.
Description
No Communication with an outdoor unit.
Cause
With a furnace on the bus, if the stat never sees an ODU on the bus at first power up, it defaults to NONE in the AC/HP set up menu and no alarm is set.
If however, the installer goes into AC/HP setup and selects EcoNet, but no ODU is there or there is a problem with the communication wires to the OD unit, it will set the “A002_C Outside-Unit Communication Failure”.
If an (-)A17, (-)P17, (-)P20 is learned at some point, and then comm is lost, the “A006_C EcoNet ODU Communication Failure” alarm is set.
The A002_C is a comm fault where an ODU was never learned but has been turned on at the thermostat, or a (-)RPL (-)ARL or (-)ASL JEC unit with a translator was learned and then lost.
1. Loose or damaged wire or connection in the EcoNet bus.
2. Mis-wired during service.
3. Defective outdoor control board (unlikely).
4. Failed Translator

1. Check and correct wiring.
2. Check and correct wiring.
3. Check for proper voltages at the communicating terminals. (Click back to go to outdoor model and communication). Replace outdoor unit control board.
