Zone Panel Dip Switches

How do I set up the dip switches on the zone panels?

Dip Switch Settings

There are only two dip switches on each zone panel. Of course this will depend on your application as to whether you will have 1 or 2 zone panels installed.

A) If you have 3 zones or less, and no Intelligent Bypass installed, you will only need 1 Zone Panel.

B) If you have 2 zone system with a bypass you must either have a 700 Series Smart Thermostat version 26 or later or an 800 Series Thermostat to use zone 3 as a bypass, or if you do not have revision 26 or later or an 800 Series, you then must use a second zone panel and have the bypass installed on zone 6.

B) If you have 3 zones  AND an Intelligent Bypass installed, you will have 2 Zone Panels

C) If you have 4 or more zones, you will have 2 Zone Panels.

D) Systems with two zones and a bypass, dip switches on 700 Series thermostats with version 26 or later and 800 series will ignore the dip switch and bypass will be configured in the thermostat.

DIP SWITCH #1
Dip switch number 1 designates which zones the panel controls. It controls either zones 1, 2, & 3, or it controls zones 4, 5, & 6.

For this switch OFF is zones 1, 2 and 3, and ON is for zones 4, 5, & 6.

For all systems with only a single panel, both dip switches will be set to OFF.

DIP SWITCH #2
Dip switch number 2 designates whether zone 6 is going to be used as a bypass or if it is an actual zone.

When this switch is OFF, the system will control the output to zone 6 as a zone. This means it must have a zone control thermostat in the space that is wired into the EcoNet bus. If Dip Switch 2 is set to ON, zone 6 outputs will control an Intelligent Bypass Damper.

Applications

Starting with the single panel, its pretty straight forward. Both dip switches must be set to off which is to the left.

For Applications where two zone panels are required, the fist board controlling zones 1 to 3, will have both dip switches set to the OFF (left) position.

The Second panel will have dip switch #1 set to ON (to the left) to designate the panel as the second panel regardless of whether there is a bypass installed or not.

If zone 6 is a legitimate zone, and there is a zone controller in the space, then dip switch #2 will be set to OFF (to the left).

If zone 6 is an Intelligent Bypass, then dip switch #2 will be set to ON (to the right).
