A007_Z or A008_Z:
Zone Control Damper Overcurrent Fault [1] or [2]
Status
This is a critical fault related to the zoning system.
Description
The zone panel has detected a problem with the damper circuits. A007_Z [1] means the issue is with one, or more of the damper circuits on the panel that controls zones 1-3. A008_Z [2] means the issue is with the zone 4-6 panel's damper circuits.
Cause
A shorted set of wires leading to a zone damper or one that is accidentally miswired is much like shorting any other 24v circuit.
An internally failed damper actuator may also be to blame but this is less likely than an issue with the wiring between the zone panel and the zone damper.
Each zone can handle a maximum number of dampers and exceeding this limit may cause an increase in load on the relays at the zone panel.
The Zone Panels themselves are equipped with auto-reset circuit breakers and will reset once the excess current root cause is resolved.
Solution
Look closely at wiring to the dampers to make sure it is not mis-wired. Pretty simple. PO (Power Open) on the board goes to PO (Power Open) on the damper actuator an so on.
Check dampers for blockages. Depress the black release on the damper and ensure it freely moves from full open to full closed.
Check the number of dampers assigned to any one zone. The limit is 5 dampers per zone.
