The EcoNet zoning system was designed and optimized for variable capacity equipment. The more stages, the better it will work. However, when matched with an EcoNet compatible gas furnace, legacy two stage and single stage outdoor units may be used, but may likely require the addition of an Intelligent By-pass. Even variable systems may require a By-pass when extremely small zones are being used. The key is to be realistic with any zoning system and manage customer expectations.

Note EcoNet Zoning is NOT compatible with systems using the RH2T air Handler and CANNOT be made to work.

The Zoning system requires one (-)ETST700SYS or (-)ETS800SYS Smart Thermostat that will act as the master / Zone 1 control.

You will also need a (-)ZCTL700ZON or (-)ZCTL800ZON Zone Control for each additional zone.

Products meeting the new M1 (2023) Standard can only use the 800 Series EcoNet controls.

(-)A15AZ, (-)A16AZ and (-)P16AZ Mid Tier Inverter products are limited to 2 zones.  If more zones are required, (-)A18AZ or (-)P18AZ and matching variable equipment must be used.

Lastly you will need one or two Zone control panels:

The number of zone control panels depends on how many zones you have and if there is going to be an intelligent by-pass installed. For 4 to 6 zones, or any application requiring a bypass, two zone control panels will be required.

Dampers will be EWC brand:

Model #URD Round dampers

Model #SID Slide in round dampers

Model #ND rectangular dampers.

Systems with an Intelligent By-pass will also require a LAT (Leaving Air Thermistor) in the supply plenum.

Air Handler LAT – Kit Number RXHT-A02

Gas Furnace LAT – Part Number 47-24225-01

Training

DO NOT attempt to install an EcoNet Zoning system without proper training from your distributor partner. These systems are more complex than standard zoning systems. The only similarities between the EcoNet Zoning system and one off the shelf are that there are thermostats and dampers. The similarities end there.
