How does this work?
Weather
The EcoNet 700 or 800 Series Smart Thermostat must be connected via Wi-Fi for the weather to work. Weather is provided through a third party, Aeris, and will update about once an hour. Weather data is provided at no cost to the consumer.
When commissioning / provisioning the EcoNet Smart Thermostat, the weather may not populate right away. This will usually update and populate after an hour or so. Because it is handled through a third party, there may be times weather does not update immediately.
To see today's forecast touch the weather icon on the main screen. If you want to see the seven day forecast, simply click on FORECAST in the bottom right corner.
Occasionally the feed from Aeris does not come though. Usually this will resolve itself in time. This is a third party outfit and does not mean the thermostat is defective.
The weather detail is based solely on the zip code that is provided by the user when they set up their EcoNet Account with the app. If they input an error in their zip code, this can impact the weather. Have the customer check their EcoNet account on the app to make sure it is a legitimate US or Canadian Zip Code. If this is a new zip code, try an adjacent one nearby.
If the customer has spotty, temperamental or non-continuous connections to the internet, it may miss regular updates to the weather. Also, the equipment may be connecting to the homeowner's Wi-Fi router but the router may not be connecting to the internet.
