Zone ID and Names
How do I differentiate zones?
Zone ID
A zone ID is a simple designation that tells which zone control, controls which dampers. Essentially its the zone number. Unlike traditional zone systems that are wired, each of the zone controls taps into the EcoNet bus and must be uniquely addressed so communications can differentiate the zone controls.
The Zone ID corresponds to the damper numbers on the zone panel for the designated zones. For Example: A Zone Control with a damper of Zone 2, will control the zone 2 dampers
The EcoNet Smart thermostat is designated as the master. It will always be Zone 1.
At start up, if you have more than 2 zones you will certainly begin with alarms at power up. This is because the zone controls are all set with a default of zone 2. You should silence the alarm and work your way to the other zone controls and change the zone ID to correspond with the dampers that feed that area.
How do I set the Zone ID?
The Zone ID is set at the individual zone controllers. To change the Zone ID,
1. Go to the zone controller and enter the menu screen.
2. Select Basic Settings.
3. Change Zone ID Assignmentt to match the zone number you are in.
Zone Name
The zone name is the friendly name you wish to call your zones. For instance if Zone 2 is Upstairs, you can give it that friendly name... "Upstairs". Seems simple enough?
How do I enter a zone name?
This can be done from several locations, but the easiest method would be to do it from the Zone 1 Smart Thermostat. It can be done online as well once the customer has the app.
Find your way to the Zone 1 Smart Thermostat.
1. Enter the menu
2. Click on Settings
3. Click on Zoning
4. Click More on the bottom right
5. Highlight the text for the zone name and a QWERTY keyboard will pop up.
6. Enter the desired friendly name
7. Save when done.
Repeat the process for each zone. Simple names are best, especially if your customer plans on using the Amazon Echo to set temperatures.
The homeowner may rename the zones using the EcoNet app once the system has been connected to the internet through provisioning
