A061_F: Blower Fault - Motor Cannot Run
Status
This is a critical fault. The furnace will not operate in any mode.
Description
The blower has failed critically or there is a critical motor fault - such as thermal limit trip that prevents the blower motor from running.
Expected Operation
If the main limit trips, control logs "T022_F Main Limit Switch Open", shuts off the inducer and gas valves, and runs the blower at the highest heat speed. If the main limit remains tripped for more than 150 seconds, alert “T022_F Main Limit Switch Open” is elevated to an alarm "A022_F Main Limit Switch Open". Alarm “A061_F Blower Fault - Motor Cannot Run” is also logged at this point. Upon reclosing of the main limit, the control will clear alarm "A022_F Main Limit Switch Open" and transition to blower off delay without any need for inducer to go through post-purge. The control then enters a 1-hour soft lockout. Alarms "A111_F One-hour Lockout: Main Limit Switch" and "A061_F Blower Fault - Motor Cannot Run" are declared throughout the duration of the lockout. This is recorded as the first dead blower condition. After the lockout period expires, both alarms are cleared and normal operation resumes.
If the heat call is still present, the furnace will initiate a new heat cycle. If the dead blower condition persists on subsequent heat cycles, the dead blower counter is incremented until a maximum of four dead blower conditions are recorded. Upon registering the fourth dead blower condition, the furnace is forced into a hard lockout and alarm "A061_F Blower Fault - Motor Cannot Run" is declared. Hard lockout can only be reset by cycling power to the unit.
Cause
1. The motor has tripped on thermal limit because of a restriction or bearing failure.
2. Wiring to the motor has become compromised.
3. The blower wheel has become damaged or is not properly attached to the motor shaft.
4. The motor has failed catastrophically.
Solution
1. Remove obstruction or replace motor.
2. Inspect and replace or repair wiring and/or connectors to the motor as necessary.
3. Replace the blower wheel and/or attach the blower wheel to the motor shaft properly.
4. Replace the motor.
